A photo illustration series created specifically for the covers of Charleston City Paper's Literary Issues. I’ve been dabbling with this alt-world (junkpunk?) series on-and-off for several years now. I’m working with no set direction, just seeing where they take me as I go. The images are created using Public Domain and Creative Commons image bits and pieces.
I’ve created the branding, menu, signage, point-of-purchase, and advertising design work for this Charleston, South Carolina eatery.
Maya del Sol Kitchen offers a 5-course chef’s table in North Charleston, SC. Along with the dining experience, chef Raul Sanchez has developed a delicious hot sauce and carne asada seasoning, which he sells from the kitchen.
A successful event in other cities around the country, Charleston Burger Week was started in 2015 by the Charleston City Paper. In addition to primary identity development, several pieces of print collateral were created for event marketing, sales, and customer participation.
P.S. — As far as I'm concerned, Burger Week is every week.
A client in the new CBD supplement field, CannaBonez creates and markets a range of hemp-distillate products aimed at helping man’s best friend. A branding and packaging work in progress as this tiny company quickly grows.
I’ve been expanding my professional knowledge and skill set in recent years with photo retouching for both commercial and editorial projects.
My overall philosophy is to greatly improve the image, but never leave any signs that I was there.

I’ve worked in publications for over 20 years. Many times that has required working as illustrator, photo editor, costumer, prop builder, and art director all rolled into one. Here are some of my favorite pages and covers of late.
Much of my work over the years has often involved developing witty and effective parodies within the short time frame of newspaper publishing.
A series of photo illustrations for the Charleston City Paper’s Best of Charleston awards. This particular year took on a fairytale theme with the winners and issue at large.
A series of illustrations created for an article on classic robots in cinema and how they aligned with certain personality types. Which is your “spirit robot”?
So, here it is, you’ve found me out: I’m a bit of a portfolio packrat.
But what can I say? I’m always going to have my favorites, no matter how much time has passed, or what the ultimate fate of the project or client has been.
So, here I present my Design Graveyard. A small collection of logos, designs, and editorial illustrations past. Some already had their heyday, some never made it into production for reasons out of my control, some are clients (businesses, that is) that are no longer with us.
Enjoy.
